Jose Mourinho has once again criticised the officials, saying that the 'worst team won' after Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's goal saw Besiktas beat Fenerbahce 1-0 on Saturday.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, formerly of Arsenal and Liverpool, scored the winning goal in the 73rd minute as Besiktas edged out Fenerbahce to climb up to fourth position in the league table. Fenerbahce's amazing five-match winning streak came to an end with the defeat at Tupras Stadium. If Galatasaray can beat Sivasspor in their next game, they'll be six points clear at the top of the table.
The loss to Besiktas left their legendary manager, Mourinho, visibly upset. He sarcastically criticized the match officials, claiming that his team was on the wrong end of some questionable decisions made by the referee. The former Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea boss had already questioned the standard of refereeing during the club's Turkish Super Lig game against Trabzonspor last month.
Speaking to reporters at his post-match press conference, the Portuguese coach said: "We deserved at least a draw. The match was under our control, but we couldn't finish it. I congratulate the referee and Besiktas. The worst team won. Although we weren't perfect, I think we were better, but they took advantage of their only chance. We will continue to fight for the championship."
Mourinho's side will be back in action next week in Europe as they face Athletic Club in a Europa League clash on Wednesday at home.
