Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund to battle for struggling Nigerian striker

German Bundesliga clubs RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing Nigerian striker Gift Orban from Lyon.
Orban has struggled to make an impact at Lyon since his €14 million transfer from Belgian club Gent in January. The Nigerian striker was initially brought in to help the club survive relegation last season, but he hardly got game time to prove his quality.
This season, under the tutelage of Pierre Sage, Orban has had a topsy-turvy start. He started the season badly, as he did not play in Lyon’s first two games. However, he got his first minutes in their third game of the campaign and scored for Les Gones. He scored a brace to help them to a dramatic 4-3 win over Strasbourg.
Orban got a starting shirt in the next two games, but he failed to score, and he was relegated to the bench again. Since the end of September, the 22-year-old striker has only gotten 73 minutes of action, as he has only featured twice in 13 of Lyon’s last 13 games.
Due to his lack of game time, it appears that the former Gent man has become surplus to requirements at Lyon. Moreover, the club is looking to sell some players within the next two transfer windows due to their financial struggles.
In a new development, per BVB WLD, Borussia and Leipzig are interested in Orban. Both clubs admire the Nigerian striker and appear willing to acquire his services.
Lyon have set a €25 million price tag for Orban, and that is a decent for the two Bundesliga clubs. However, it is unknown whether they will push for the deal in January or next summer.
