Alavés have announced that Luis García Plaza is no longer their head coach. This comes after the club went three games without a win. At the moment, Alavés is in 16th place, just one point above the relegation zone.

García Plaza signed a new two-year contract with Alavés in the summer and was well-liked for the way he led the club to mid-table last season. However, after a 1-1 draw against Real Valladolid that ended a three-match losing streak, the Basque side made their move.

The Madrid-born head coach has been in the job for two years, five months and one day, making him Alaves' longest-serving head coach in 21 years. He coached a total of 102 games, winning promotion and keeping the top spot last year. Under his leadership, Alavés won 44 games, drew 28 and lost 36, averaging 1.48 points per game.

He was replaced by former Celta Vigo head coach Eduardo "Chacho" Cúdet. Kuder did well in his first 18 months in Galicia, but he couldn't stop the team's results from getting worse, so they sacked him after two years. Since then, the Argentine coach has coached Atlético Mineiro and Internacional, with nearly 100 games between the two teams.

Kuder's Celta teams were known for their attacking style and ambitious game plans, often fielding a defensive midfielder and two forwards. Alavés were usually pretty solid at the back under Garcia Plaza, so it'll be interesting to see how the change in coaching is received when they face Osasuna this weekend.
