Injuries continue to ravage Real Madrid this season and this continues to be a headache for head coach Carlo Ancelotti, who is forced to select his starting eleven for Sunday’s game against Getafe with six key players out of action: Tchouameni, Vinicius, Camavinga, Alaba, Militao and Carvajal.
However, it’s not all doom and gloom for the Italian as Rodrygo has been declared fit and will play some role for ‘Los Blancos’ as they look to close the gap at the top of the table following Barcelona slipping up at home to Las Palmas on Saturday.
Ancelotti has only 16 first-team players available (the coach has called up five academy players), but will start with Courtois in goal. Raúl Asencio remains Rüdiger’s partner in the heart of defence with Lucas Vázquez a high candidate for right back with Fran García set to marshall the left back position.
The return of Lucas Vázquez moves Valverde back to the centre of the field and with Tchouameni and Camavinga out, the Uruguayan will line-up with Modric and Bellingham. Up front, Ancelotti will start Brahim on the right, Mbappé on the left and the possibility is high that Rodrygo will go straight into the starting line-up and look to add to his three goals for the 2024-25 LaLiga season.
Ancelotti’s possible starting XI for Real Madrid-Getafe
The possible starting eleven for Ancelotti on Sunday could see a starting XI: Courtois; Lucas Vázquez, Asencio, Rüdiger, Fran García; Modric, Valverde, Bellingham; Brahim, Rodrygo and Mbappé.
In addition to Raúl Asencio, the Real Madrid coach has called up four other youth-team players to complete the squad. Goalkeeper Fran González, right-back Lorenzo, centre-back Aguado and central midfielder Chema Andrés will be on the bench alongside Lunin, Vallejo, Mendy, Ceballos, Arda Güler and Endrick.
