Millwall vs Leeds

Match preview

Millwall are back at The Den on Wednesday, looking to keep up their good work in the Championship. They're now just a few places away from the top six, having had a great run since the October international break.

The Lions went into the break with nine points from their first nine games. Since then, they've gone five games unbeaten, with a 1-1 draw with Derby County and three wins on the trot.

Neil Harris's side have kept a clean sheet in each of those matches. First, they picked up their third and fourth three-point hauls of the season at home to Plymouth Argyle and away at Swansea City. Most recently, they faced a tough test against second-placed Burnley at The Den on Sunday.

Jake Coope scored the first goal in the 52nd minute of the match, and the London team held their ground to secure another narrow victory. This brings their total to six, which is the sixth-fewest goals conceded in England's second tier so far this season, with only 12 goals conceded in 13 matches.

Millwall are now just two points behind sixth-placed West Bromwich Albion and four points behind the Championship's top four, so they're aiming to make it four league wins on the bounce to strengthen their position even further.

They've got another tough challenge ahead of them, though. The visitors are on a roll and heading to London with their sights set on claiming a spot in the automatic promotion places.

Leeds United are heading to The Den on Wednesday as another of the Championship's strong teams. They've had a great start to their promotion bid under Daniel Farke, currently sitting second with 26 points from their first 13 games.

The Whites have been excellent at both ends of the pitch. Only two teams have scored more than their 22 goals and only two have conceded fewer than the eight that Farke's men have allowed. They've also had eight clean sheets across the 13 matches.

Their only league defeat of the season so far was against Burnley in mid-September. Since then, they've won five games and drawn three. They've had three three-point hauls in four games, with a win at home to Plymouth Argyle on Saturday. Daniel James, Joel Piroe and Brenden Aaronson scored in the first half, and they beat Plymouth 3-0.

After moving up to second place with that win, Leeds United will now try to make it nine games unbeaten in the league and seven away from home with another three-point haul on Wednesday.

Team News

Millwall will still be without midfield player Billy Mitchell and forward Tom Bradshaw on Wednesday because of injury problems. Josh Coburn and Shaun Hutchinson were back in training on Sunday after their own layoffs.

Neil Harris will have to make one change at the back after their win against Burnley. Joe Bryan is suspended for one match after picking up a fifth yellow card last time out, so Murray Wallace is likely to join Japhet Tanganga, Jake Cooper and Ryan Leonard in a back four.

George Saville and Casper De Norre will continue their midfield partnership, while Duncan Watmore, who's scored the most Championship goals this season, will compete for a starting spot in attack after Femi Azeez, George Honeyman and Romain Esse supported Macaulay Langstaff at the weekend.

Leeds United are still dealing with a few injuries ahead of Wednesday's game. Midfielders Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev and winger Largie Ramazani are still out.

Joshua Guilavogui will be trying to win a place in midfield after coming on as a substitute on Saturday, but Farke is likely to stick with the pairing of Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell in the engine room in the absence of Gruev and Ampadu. Meanwhile, Jayden Bogle will be back on the right-hand side of the defence after serving a suspension against Plymouth.

Even without Ramazani, there's competition for attacking spots. Piroe should get the nod over Joseph to lead the line after netting his fifth league goal of the season at the weekend. Solomon will hope to come in on the wing and displace either Gnonto or James.
