Watford vs Hull City

Match preview

Hull picked up three valuable points at the weekend as they beat Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 at Hillsborough.

The Tigers snatched the win late on as Charlie Hughes scored the only goal of the game in the dying moments to boost their Championship survival chances.

Hull's run of form has come at the right time of the season as they have lost just once in their last six games, which is a big reason why they are currently outside the relegation zone.

However, one of Hull's biggest problems this season has been goalscoring, with the Tigers managing just 40 goals, an average of just over a goal per game.

In fact, the Yorkshire side have only scored more than once in seven of their 40 league games this season.

Hull have won five of their last ten league games away from home, and have favoured the road this season, picking up 25 of their 44 points away from home and boasting the worst home record in the division.

Despite their good form on the road this year, they will face a Watford side who have performed significantly better at home than on the road, with 11 wins at Vicarage Road compared to just four away.

Their last away defeat came at the weekend against Bristol City, when Ross McCrorie and Nahki Wells gave the Robins a commanding lead before Mamadou Doumbia grabbed a late consolation for the Hornets.

The defeat at Ashton Gate leaves Watford seven points adrift of Bristol City in the table, and seven points adrift of the play-off places.

With just six games remaining, the Hornets will need to be close to perfect if they are to have any chance of making the play-offs this season.

The hosts have tricky games against promotion chasers West Bromwich Albion and Burnley in the coming weeks, and with half of their remaining fixtures away from home, their poor away record will have to change if they are to have any chance of promotion.

Defeat at the weekend meant that Tom Cleverley's side have won just once in their last six games, and the Hornets have scored just three times during this poor run.

The last two meetings between the Hornets and Tigers have ended in draws, with the last time the two sides met coming in December in Hull's first game under Ruben Selles.

Chris Bedia gave Hull the lead with less than 10 minutes remaining, but Rocco Vata's late equaliser denied Selles any hope of a first win for his side.

Team News

Watford are likely to be without the services of Kwadwo Baah after he was forced off injured in the defeat to Bristol City at the weekend.

Doumbia came off the bench to score for the Hornets at the weekend following his latest injury and will be in contention to feature again on Tuesday night.

Elsewhere, Kevin Keben and Amin Nabizada are doubts for the hosts, while Angelo Ogbonna remains sidelined with a long-term injury.

The visitors, meanwhile, will be without a number of players as Oscar Zambrano continues to serve a lengthy suspension. The Tigers will be without a quartet of injured players as Louie Barry, Liam Millar, Mohamed Belloumi and Eliot Matazo are all out for Hull.
