Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes both scored twice as Manchester United beat Leicester City 5-2 on Wednesday, which means they're now through to the Carabao Cup quarter-finals. This was their first game since manager Erik ten Hag was sacked.
United's interim manager, Ruud van Nistelrooy, had promised goalscoring wonder in his first game in charge, and his players delivered.
Casemiro got the first goal in the 15th minute with a 20-yard shot into the top corner, and Alejandro Ganacho made it 2-0 after firing home a Diogo Dalot cross.
"I have to say we were a bit lucky too, but I'm pleased for Casemiro, Ganacho and Bruno," van Nistelrooy told Sky Spots.
"We scored five goals, but in the West Ham and Fenerbahce games we had lots of chances but couldn't score. "We were lucky, and that made for a good night."
Leicester City's Bilal El Khannouss managed to pull one back in the first half, but Fernandes' free kick hit the wall and found the net, restoring United's two-goal lead.
"It was his first goal in a long time, so I'm happy for him. He's already scored twice and had a good second half," said Van Nistelrooy of his captain.
The home fans were in high spirits, shouting "shoot!" every time a United player got close to the Leicester goal. Casemiro completed his brace in the 39th minute, hitting the post with a header before firing home.
Conor Coady managed to pull one back for Leicester in the first half of extra time, but the visitors' hopes were quickly dashed when Fernandes latched onto a return pass and dribbled past the goalkeeper to score his second in the 59th minute.
The score could have been even higher as all three of United's strikers narrowly missed, while Amad Diallo surprised fans when his overhead kick went wide in the second half.
Once the game was over, Van Nistelrooy went over to the Stretford End and thanked the United fans, who were chanting his name.
"Our goal is always to react and attack," Van Nistelrooy added. "The players reacted really well after Leicester scored, and they deserve credit for that. I'm pleased the fans left the stadium happy.
Ten Hag was fired on Monday, with the club sitting in 14th place in the Premier League, just one spot and two points ahead of Leicester.
Manchester United have won the League Cup six times, most recently in the 2022-23 season when Ten Hag was in charge. For Van Nistelrooy, making it through to the next round is a bit of a relief, and the first game after Ten Hag was sacked is a decent result.
They'll be back in the Premier League on Sunday, playing Chelsea at home. This will also be the first major opponent Van Nistelrooy will face since he started in the role.
