Ferencvaros vs Nice
Match preview
Ferencvaros will be looking to end their poor run in Europe when they take on their opponents today. They've had two defeats already this campaign, which has extended their run of four losses on the continent and five in this competition.
Pascal Jansen's side have lost two games in a row, 2-1 to Anderlecht and Tottenham Hotspur. They're one of six clubs yet to get off the mark.
It didn't help that they went 2-0 down in both games. Ferencvaros didn't start a comeback until the final five minutes, so their goals were just consolations.
After winning 12 of their first 13 games, a 3-1 defeat to Paksi just before the international break meant that Jansen's team had lost three in four. However, a 2-0 win against Fehervar at the weekend has put them back on track at the top of the Hungarian league.
This will be the first time these two teams have met. The home team will be hoping they can repeat their only previous performances against French opposition, when they took four points off Monaco in the 2022-23 Europa League group stages.
They may feel confident too, because Nice's record in Europe is not much better than Ferencvaros' of late. They've lost 13 of their last 15 away games in the UEL.
If they lose here, it'll be another seven losses on the road, which is pretty much uncharted territory for Nice. They haven't won an away game in this competition since 2017.
Nice have a strong national record to uphold though. It's been over 23 years since Bordeaux lost to Debrecen in Hungary, and six of the last eight French sides have won on their trips here.
However, after an 8-0 defeat of Saint-Étienne, Nice have gone on a five-game winless streak, which includes their opening two Europa League games.
At first glance, it doesn't look good. But Nice have been up against some tough opponents recently, and taking a point away at Lens and against Paris Saint-Germain is a decent result.
Franck Haise's team also held their own against Real Sociedad in the opening match, and missed a penalty that could have handed them the win. However, a 4-1 loss to Lazio in Rome was a real low point.
As you might expect, the goal difference suffered as a result of that defeat, with Nice dropping below the likes of RFS and Ludogorets. However, there's still a long way to go in the league phase.
