Roma's board made the decision to sack club legend Daniele De Rossi earlier this month and appoint ex-Torino coach Ivan Juric to replace him after the team had only managed to score three points from four matches.

Despite facing protests from fans last weekend, the Giallorossi managed to post their first win of the season, beating Udinese 3-0. Goals from Artem Dovbyk, Tommaso Baldanzi and Paulo Dybala secured the victory.

After such a strong start in tough circumstances, Juric then tried to lead his new side to victory in the Europa League's opening matchday. They were on course for more success when Dovbyk scored during the first half against Athletic Bilbao.

But the Basque side managed to equalise in the 85th minute, taking the shine off another positive performance.

Going back to last season, Roma have only won two of their last seven home matches in all competitions. That's a big problem for Juric and his team to fix.

On a more positive note, the Giallorossi have scored in 23 consecutive Serie A games at Stadio Olimpico, which is their longest streak since 2017. They've also found the net in all of their last 19 league games against Sunday's opponents.

Such is the weight of history stacked against Venezia this weekend, they will They're looking for their first top-flight away win over Roma since 1947. The Lagunari haven't won any of the eight subsequent games in the capital.

Current coach Eusebio Di Francesco is now back at his former club, hoping to put an end to that long run of bad luck. He celebrated his 300th game and 100th victory as a Serie A manager by beating Genoa last week.

With just one point from four games, Venezia is currently in last place in the table and has already been knocked out of the Coppa Italia. They haven't scored a single goal since the opening matchday.

However, last season's top scorer on his way to promotion through the Serie B playoffs, Joel Pohjanpalo – who also missed a penalty – popped up with a late second goal to follow Gianluca Busio's opener at Stadio Penzo.

Over a third of Di Francesco's century of wins came while he was in charge of this week's hosts, but he's yet to engineer a single Serie A success against them. He's faced Roma more times than any other opponent, but has never managed to win, losing nine out of 12 previous meetings.
