AC Milan moved level with Torino at the top of Serie A after a convincing 3-0 win over minnows Lecce on Friday, building on their derby victory over Inter Milan last weekend.
Goals in a five-minute spell in the first half from Alvaro Morata, Theo Hernandez and Christian Pulisic sent Milan on their way to a third successive win in the league and moved them level on 11 points with Torino.
Milan also have a superior goal difference, which would have put them top if they hadn't played another game.
Paulo Fonseca's side, who failed to win their first three league games this season, could have won more when Tammy Abraham and Ruben Loftus-Cheek both hit the woodwork after half-time.
The only sour note on the night was the dismissal of teenage defender Davide Bartesaghi for a rash challenge with 10 minutes remaining, just five minutes after replacing Hernandez."That's the great thing about football, in 90 minutes things can change for the better or for the worse," said Fonseca, who was heavily criticised after his side were given a footballing lesson by Liverpool 10 days ago.
"It was important to win after winning the derby... it was difficult to get our feet back on the ground, but the players knew what to do and won the game."
Milan now travel to Germany to take on Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on Tuesday with their heads held high and key attacking players in fine form.
Fonseca said on Thursday that Morata had been a doubt and was taken off to keep him available for Leverkusen.
"I didn't have pre-season and I missed a lot of training, so it just takes a bit longer (to be fully fit). I went off as a precaution," Morata told Sky.
Tuesday's game in Germany will be crucial for Fonseca's side, who opened their Champions League campaign with a crushing 3-1 defeat at home to Liverpool.
