Bukayo Saka was once again the catalyst for Arsenal, his double helping the Gunners to a relatively comfortable 3-0 home win over AS Monaco that moved the Gunners into sight of the Champions League knockout stages on Wednesday.

It was not all plain sailing for the hosts, who were guilty of some sloppy finishing, but England striker Saka took his tally for the season to nine goals in all competitions as Arsenal moved up to third in the table.

Arsenal, who have games against Dinamo Zagreb and Girona, have 13 points, while Monaco, who started the evening level on 10 points, are 16th.

Arsenal had a shot on goal from Odegaard, and in the 25th minute they had a chance to score. Jesus got through on the break and took a shot. His right-footed shot was saved by Monaco goalkeeper Radoslaw Majecki, who was forced into a difficult save. Shortly after, Arsenal got the ball back in a good position, giving Jesus another chance to shoot. He managed to hold off the defender and shoot with his right foot, but Majecki was on hand to make another good save.

Nevertheless, Arsenal kept up the pressure with some impressive passing. In the 34th minute, left-back Miles Lewis-Skelly got past the press and sent a sharp pass to the front line. Jesus received the pass and crossed it from the left of the goal, and Saka pushed it in at the far side, scoring the long-awaited opening goal. In the 39th minute, Odegaard managed to get past the goalkeeper but his shot went wide to the right of the goal.

Monaco made a change in the second half, bringing on Minamino. He moved over to the left wing and started to push forward. In the 63rd minute, Minamino struck the ball just outside the post after a cross from the left wing, but it was still in the goalkeeper's defensive range. In the 65th minute, Minamino got his hands on the ball at a high position. He passed it to Breel Embolo in the centre, who shot as he turned around. It was a shame it didn't hit the target.

Arsenal scored a crucial second goal in the 78th minute. Kai Havertz made the most of a mistake in Monaco's build-up play and Saka finished it off with his left foot. Havertz then scored another goal in the 88th minute to seal the win and record a third.

In the end, Arsenal won 3-0, earning their fourth win while Monaco suffered their second straight loss. Monaco still have to play Aston Villa and Inter Milan, so their top-eight hopes look slim.
