It looks like Julen Lopetegui is about to be fired as manager of West Ham United.
The Hammers have decided to keep him in place for Monday's crunch clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers, but it looks like the Spaniard will be dismissed if they lose the home game.
West Ham have already started looking at potential replacements for Lopetegui. There have been a few big names linked with the club so far, including Edin Terzic, Graham Potter and Max Allegri.
The Daily Mirror says West Ham are thinking about hiring Michael Carrick, having been impressed with his work at Middlesbrough. He's on the shortlist for the job at the London Stadium.
Carrick started his career at West Ham and went on to make over 100 appearances for them.
Carrick spent most of his career at Manchester United, but he's still remembered fondly at West Ham.
He's been Boro's head coach since October 2022. He led them to the play-off semi-finals in his first campaign and then guided them to the last four of the EFL Cup last term.
The North Yorkshire outfit are also doing well this season, and it's clear they don't want to lose their manager, who is helping them build a promotion push in the Championship.
However, West Ham are really keen to sign him because he plays an attractive style of football and he has a connection with the club.
