76ers predicted to nab high-energy guard from rebuilding team via trade

Trading season is heating up in the coming days for the Philadelphia 76ers. Despite the early-seasoon struggles, it won’t surprise anyone if they get involved as buyers.
Now that the playoff picture is beginning to be fleshed out, so is the market, by extension. Because the Utah Jazz are becoming increasingly less likely to make the playoffs, HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto revealed two particular Jazz players that teams are watching.
“With Keyonte George starting full-time this season, executives are monitoring [Collin] Sexton and [Jordan] Clarkson’s availability for potential backcourt depth,” Scotto wrote.
Because the Jazz are rebuilding, it would be no surprise if they made those two available. FanSided predicts they will become trade targets for the Sixers if they do.
Sexton and Clarkson have proven how lethal they can be as scorers. Sexton has averaged 20-plus points in two consecutive seasons while Clarkson has reached that plateau once.
If the Sixers acquired either of those two, they would know exactly what they would get—a scoring spark off the bench that can go off any night. They’re not the exact same player, but they would basically fill the same role.
The one problem with acquiring either of them
There shouldn’t be any doubt in Sexton’s or Clarkson’s abilities whatsoever. However, the problem is both are undersized, score-first guards. The Sixers already have two of those player archetypes in Tyrese Maxey and Jared McCain. Even their backup guards, like Kyle Lowry and Eric Gordon, are undersized.
Sometimes redundancy isn’t the worst thing, but if the Sixers plan to add a guard, they need one who can’t be exploited defensively on post-ups.
It wouldn’t be the end of the world if the Sixers went after a player like them, but they try to get a scoring spark with size first.
