The Reds are top of the Premier League and the Champions League, through to the League Cup quarter-finals and have only lost once across all competitions. But with matches against Real Madrid, Manchester City and Everton fast approaching, the Dutch head coach won't be taking anything for granted.
Slot will be keeping a close eye on the likely return dates for a number of injured players, including first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker and vice captain Trent Alexander-Arnold, who missed the international break with a hamstring injury picked up during the win over Aston Villa. Here's the latest on when Liverpool's injured players might be back in action.
Virgil van Dijk
The defender is being assessed after coming back from international duty following the Netherlands' win over Hungary. National team boss Ronald Koeman has confirmed that an injury has been affecting Van Dijk.
"Virgil had some minor complaints, he already had that last week," Koeman explained. "He trained separately last week until Wednesday.
"Also considering the schedule that these types of players have to complete - he always plays everything. That is why we decided to send him back to the club."
Potential return: Southampton, 24 November
Trent Alexander-Arnold
A hamstring injury is serious and the fact that the No. 66 left the pitch after just 25 minutes against Villa suggests it was a fairly significant injury. Thankfully, a prompt substitution helped limit any damage and the club were optimistic that it was not as bad as first feared, with just a couple of weeks out. With the games coming up, it's unlikely they'll take any chances with him against Saints if there's any doubt, so he might be back midweek.
Potential return: Real Madrid, 27 November
Federico Chiesa
The Reds are away at Southampton this weekend, and one player who might be fit to rejoin the squad is Federico Chiesa. He's been held back since picking up a slight muscle injury around the October international break, but Slot said at the start of the month that he'd be back in action by the international break. So, he should be close to making a comeback.
Potential return: Southampton, 24 November
Diogo Jota
Before the international break, Slot said it would be about a week or two after the incident against Chelsea in late October before Diogo Jota would be back in action. With so many games coming up, he could be back in action against Manchester City, Newcastle, Everton or Girona in the space of just ten days.
Potential return: Early to mid-December
Harvey Elliott
As with Jota, there's no update on the midfielder, with Elliott out of action since the first weeks of the Premier League after breaking a bone in his foot. Elliott is back on the training ground and running and training outside, but it's likely to be a while longer before he can be fully involved.
Potential return: December 2024
Alisson Becker
The club has been pretty tight-lipped about Alisson's progress since he picked up a pretty bad hamstring injury at Crystal Palace. Despite the Brazilian posting on social media to show he's still in rehab, there's no real word on when he'll be back. Caoimhin Kelleher has done a great job as a stand-in, but Slot has said that Alisson is still the No. 1 when he's fit – whenever that might be.
Potential return: December 2024
