Liverpool will face Brighton for the second time this week when Arne Slot's side takes on the Seagulls in the Premier League. Goals from Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo midweek set up a quarter-final tie in the Carabao Cup against Southampton, and now the Reds must repeat the trick back on Merseyside.

But Liverpool will have to attempt to win the match against Brighton without the likes of Alisson Becker and Harvey Elliott, who will not return to action until after the next international break, which is already just around the corner. Arne Slot gave the latest update on injuries during his press conference earlier today.

Conor Bradley made his comeback from a minor injury against Brighton in the cup, but he is expected to drop out of the team for Trent Alexander-Arnold. Caoimhin Kelleher will return in goal in place of Vitezslav Jaros, who was excellent when he stepped into the team, pulling off a few good saves.

Liverpool will be without Federico Chiesa against Brighton. The Italian is still working his way back up to fitness after missing the summer and he is set to be out of action until after the coming international matches too. Diogo Jota is in a similar boat too after his rib issue that was sustained against Chelsea when Tosin Adarabioyo landed on top of him.

"I think I said it already a few times that it is always difficult to tell you exactly when they are ready because especially the last phase of the recovery can always be a few days extra or less," Slot said during his press conference when asked about Alisson and Jota. "The fact is that they are not there before the international break and let’s see if they can join us after."

On Chiesa, he added: "He is not back before the international break, but there is only a week to go. We are hoping he can do things again during the international break and that he can join us afterward."

Liverpool.com says: While there are a few key players missing there, Liverpool should still have enough quality to get the points that it needs. Beating Brighton for the second time in a week would be another step in a positive direction ahead of a big week that includes visits to Anfield of Bayer Leverkusen (Champions League) and Aston Villa
