Wolves' Mateus Cunha scored a fantastic equalizer in stoppage time to draw 2-2 away at Brighton on Saturday. He helped the team escape the bottom of the Premier League by coming from two goals down.

While Wolves' late comeback was impressive, Brighton can only blame themselves for not capitalizing on their opportunities and letting the visitors claw their way back into the game, especially when they were two goals ahead late in the match.

The Seagulls were on top in the first half, but it wasn't until the 45th minute that Danny Welbeck's great shot broke the deadlock after a mistake by the visiting goalkeeper, Jose Sa. He easily passed the ball, which gave Brighton the chance to fight back. In the 85th minute, Lamptey passed the ball to Evan Ferguson, who fired a shot into the bottom corner to make it 2-0.

Before that, Norwegian striker Jürgen Strand Larsen had missed several good chances for Wolves. When Brighton substitute Evan Ferguson turned and shot into the bottom left corner in the 86th minute, it seemed like the game was over for the visitors.

Two minutes later, Rayan Ait-Nouri tapped in a loose ball from a corner kick, giving Wolves a much-needed boost and wrapping up the game on a high note.

Brighton managed to win a four-on-one situation, which allowed Wolves to break down the opponent's defense. Cunha put the ball into the net in the third minute of stoppage time, resulting in an unexpected draw.

The point—Wolves' second of the season—moves them up to 19th in the Premier League on two points, one ahead of Southampton and one behind Crystal Palace, with Brighton in fifth on 16.

“I’m really happy for the players and the fans because everyone, the players have given so much and I know it doesn’t always work out that way because results can cloud things but they’ve given so much and if you keep doing that it won’t keep working against you,” Wolves coach Gary O’Neill said.
