'They are NOT the perfect opponent!' - Pep Guardiola admits fear of Everton as Man City look to end slump with Boxing Day encounter
Pep Guardiola remains cautious ahead of a tricky trip to Everton as Manchester City look to end their recent slump on Boxing Day.
City are going through their worst spell of the Guardiola era, having won just one of their last 12 games in all competitions. Their sudden slump in form began with a Carabao Cup defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on 30 October and they have since slipped down the Premier League table to sit seventh, 12 points behind leaders Liverpool.
The defending champions will be looking to end their slump and get back to winning ways. Next up is a trip to Everton, who have held giants Arsenal and Chelsea to goalless draws in their last two league games. Ahead of the Boxing Day clash, Guardiola admitted his fear of the Toffees and revealed how they can overcome that barrier.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, the City boss said: "They are not the perfect opponent. It is about us to come back to our best. It will take time. We have to get results as quickly as possible. We are facing Everton and they are in a good moment, their results and performances show it."
After the Boxing Day home fixture, the Cityzens play their final game of 2024 on 29 December when they host Leicester at the King Power Stadium.
