Match preview
Heidenheim are just two points off the relegation play-off spot and last weekend lost to second-bottom Holstein Kiel, who occupy the first of two automatic relegation spots.
In fairness to the home side, they did create two big chances and had 17 shots on target, but coach Frank Schmidt will still be concerned that his side had 11 shots on target and four big chances.
Schmidt's side ran out 2-0 winners over Hearts in their third Conference game of the 2024-25 season on Thursday, although the German club created just one clear-cut chance to Hearts' three.
Heidenheim are in poor form overall, having lost four, drawn one and won just two of their last six games.
The hosts have failed to win their last two home games and have lost two of their last three Bundesliga matches.
As for the visitors, they drew 1-1 with Augsburg in the league on 2 November, a game in which the Wolves had 70% of the possession but struggled to create many chances in the final third.
Boss Ralph Hasenhuttl said he was disappointed with the result, as he felt his team were able to get behind Augsburg's defensive lines on a number of occasions, but were ultimately wasteful with the ball.
The Wolves have scored 16 goals and conceded 17 in the top flight, making them the sixth-best attacking and 13th-best defensive club in the Bundesliga.
Wolfsburg have lost just once in their last six matches, winning two and drawing two.
The visitors' away form has been strong, with three wins out of five this season, and their only away defeat was a narrow 4-3 loss to champions Bayer Leverkusen on 22 September.

Team News
Heidenheim will be without midfielders Julian Niehues, Luka Janes and Thomas Leon Keller, with Niehues not expected to return until the end of December.
The hosts are likely to start with Niklas Dorsch, Lennard Maloney and Jan Schoppner in a three-man midfield.
Right-back Marnon-Thomas Busch may also miss out due to a lack of fitness, so Schmidt may opt for a back four of Haktab Omar Traore, Patrick Mainka, Benedikt Gimber and Jonas Fohrenbach.
Wolfsburg have a number of injury concerns and will be without goalkeeper Niklas Klinger and defender Rogerio.
Midfielders Aster Vranckx and Mattias Svanberg will also be out, as will strikers Bartosz Bialek and Jonas Wind.
Forwards Kevin Paredes and Lovro Majer are unlikely to feature, so Hasenhuttl may opt to field a front three of Ridle Baku, Patrick Wimmer and Tiago Tomas behind Mohamed El Amine Amoura.
Possible starting lineup
Heidenheim possible starting lineup:
Muller; Traore, Mainka, Gimber, Fohrenbach; Dorsch, Maloney, Schoppner; Wanner, Pieringer, Scienza
Wolfsburg possible starting lineup:
Grabara; Fischer, Vavro, Koulierakis, Maehle; Dardai, Arnold; Baku, Wimmer, Tomas; Amoura
