Match preview

The hosts were lucky to get a point from their match against Leverkusen. They faced 19 shots, conceded five big chances, and only produced 0.28 xG.

Sebastian Hoeness's side lost 2-0 against Atalanta BC in the Champions League on Wednesday. It was another match where they didn't create many genuine scoring opportunities.

The result left the German club in 27th place in the Champions League table. If they stay there, they'll be knocked out of the competition. But Hoeness was defiant after the Atalanta defeat, saying he thinks the team can still progress.

In the Bundesliga this season, Die Roten have scored 17 goals and conceded 16 times, making them the league's joint fourth-best offensive and 12th-best defensive club.

Stuttgart haven't won their last two games, but they did win the previous three and have only lost twice in their last ten matches.

The home team's loss to Atalanta was their first at MHPArena since October 2023. In that period, they'd picked up 14 wins and six draws.

Eintracht Frankfurt were already 4-0 up against Bochum after just 32 minutes and had six different goalscorers, which was a pretty comprehensive demolition of the Bundesliga's last-placed club.

It's worth mentioning that while the Eagles had six good scoring opportunities, they also faced four good scoring opportunities. It's possible that their defensive weakness can be excused by the fact that the game was basically won after half an hour.

Dino Toppmöller's team beat Slavia Prague 1-0 on Thursday in their fourth Europa League match of the 2024-25 campaign. They won thanks to a free kick from Omar Marmoush in the 53rd minute.

Toppmoller's team are currently placed fourth in the Europa League table with 10 points, which means they're already guaranteed a spot in the round of 16.

The Eagles are on a roll, having won four of their last five games. They've only lost twice in 15 matches this season.

Eintracht Frankfurt haven't been terrible on the road, but they have been a bit more susceptible when playing away from home. They've been beaten twice and drawn once in their seven away games.

Stuttgart will have to make do without defender Dan-Axel Zagadou until February 2025, so it looks like Josha Vagnoman, Anthony Rouault, Julian Chabot and Maximilian Mittelstadt will be starting in defence.

Striker Deniz Undav is a doubt, but we're hoping he'll be fit to play. Unfortunately, forwards Jamie Leweling, Justin Diehl and Luca Raimund won't be available.

It looks like Hoeness will pair Undav with El Bilal Toure, while Enzo Millot and Chris Fuhrich could flank the strikers.

The visitors will also be without centre-back Arthur Theate until early December and right-back Rasmus Kristensen until late November.

Eintracht could field a defence of Nnamdi Collins, Tuta, Robin Koch and Aurele Amenda.

Midfielder Oscar Hojlund is also out of action due to a broken ankle, which should keep him out of play until December. Toppmoller may field Mahmoud Dahoud and Ellyes Skhiri in a double pivot.

Possible starting lineups

Stuttgart possible starting lineup:

Nubel; Vagnoman, Rouault, Chabot, Mittelstadt; Millot, Karazor, Stiller, Fuhrich; Toure, Undav

Eintracht Frankfurt possible starting lineup:

Trapp; Collins, Tuta, Koch, Amenda; Knauff, Dahoud, Skhiri, Nkounkou; Marmoush, Ekitike
