Inter, for whom Piotr Zielinski scored two first-half penalties, led 4-2 early in the second half but could not press home that advantage.

The result from the match known historically as the Derby d'Italia means Inter stay second in the table with Juventus a point behind them in third.

Danilo caught Marcus Thuram in the box to give Zielinski his first chance from the spot, which he slotted down the centre.

Juventus levelled soon after when Juan Cabal's lofted ball over the top found Weston McKennie who fed Dusan Vlahovic to slot home.

Timothy Weah scored from close range, hooking in Francisco Conceicao's cross to nudge Juventus ahead, before Henrikh Mkhitaryan grabbed his first goal of the season with a curling low finish from Thuram's pass.

Pierre Kalulu fouled Denzel Dumfries to given Inter a second penalty, and Zielinski this time went for the corner to earn a 3-2 interval advantage.

Dumfries struck from inside the box to give Inter a two-goal cushion, but Yildiz and Juventus clawed their way back into the game.

McKennie found Yildiz for his first in the 71st minute, with the teenage Turkey striker shooting through the legs of Dumfries.

Yildiz then latched on to Conceicao's ball across the box and fired into the bottom corner to bring up the equaliser.

Juventus goalkeeper Michele di Gregorio produced brilliant saves to deny Nicolo Barella and Federico Dimarco, while Lautaro Martinez rose highest from Federico Dimarco's cross but sent his header wide.
