The Hammers were in the lead at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but then they lost their cool in a game that saw Mohammed Kudus get carried away.

Tottenham eased the pressure on Ange Postecoglou with a 4-1 win against West Ham. Their own boss, Julen Lopetegui, will be facing fresh criticism after watching his side fall apart in north London.

The team was already under a lot of pressure before the international break for their collapse at Brighton, and their poor defending was picked apart again when West Ham took an early lead. Jarrod Bowen easily evaded Destiny Udogie down the right-hand side of the 18-yard box and fired a low cross towards the back post, which Mohammed Kudus lashed in.

There was a lot of pent-up frustration from the stands to the pitch, but Spurs managed to channel that emotion and find an equaliser soon after. James Maddison led a counter-attack through the middle of the pitch and shifted play out wide to Dejan Kulusevski, who cut back infield and fired in off the inside of the post.

By the time the teams came back from half-time, Tottenham had turned the game around and were in the lead for the first time. Son Heung-min and Udogie worked well together on the left, and the Italian's cut-back found Yves Bissouma – the midfielder scoring past goalkeeper Alphonse Areola.

West Ham suddenly found themselves in a difficult position. A quick counterattack saw Kulusevski break into the box and pass the ball to Son, who struck it between the goalkeeper's legs and into the net.

Tottenham weren't done yet and they had their fourth before the hour mark. Pape Matar Sarr was quick-thinking and picked out Son, who ran through to goal and slotted home to send the home fans into a state of delirium.

The visitors' misery was compounded late on when Kudus was given a red card after a VAR check for kicking and lashing out at Spurs players, with Tottenham cruising to victory in the end.
