Borussia Dortmund enquire about Serbian talent Andrija Maksimović,He plays as a winger for Red Star Belgrade and was identified by Dortmund scouts recently.Andrija Maksimović is now the youngest player ever to represent Serbia in a competitive match at just 17 years, 4 months, and 7 days.
Borussia Dortmund have asked about signing Serbian talent Andrija Maksimović (17) from Red Star Belgrade, according to Patrick Berger, but they'll have to beat off competition from Europe's elite, with Manchester City, Juventus and Liverpool all interested too.
Nothing is set in stone just yet. Maksimović made his debut for the Serbia national team on Saturday, becoming the youngest player to do so. Berger says the 17-year-old attacker is already thinking about the next step in his career, but any potential suitor will have to pay upwards of €15m.
The Serbian local media commented on him:In a sense, it’s poetic and, hopefully, prophetic, that Andrija Maksimović’s debut - a player of such rare talent that he could reshape our midfield and, with it, the national team's future - coincided with a long awaited win over our rivals.
Berger also says that there have been some initial discussions between the clubs, but nothing between Die Schwarzgelben and the player's entourage.
Maksimović has scored four and created three in 11 games across all competitions this season, but he's still under contract at Red Star Belgrade until 2027.
Borussia Dortmund have done a great job in recent years of bringing in the best young talent from around Europe. Ousmane Dembele, Jadon Sancho, Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham are just a few examples of players who have developed at the Westphalian club. If BVB were to sign Maksimović, it would be another example of them beating some of Europe's top teams to sign the best young talents.
