Quansah's contract renewal process reflects Liverpool's core contract renewal problems

With Quansah's contract extension and Konate's new deal being wrapped up quickly, it makes you wonder how this will differ from the potentially more complicated renewals for key stars such as Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk.
It looks like things are going well with the 20-year-old Quansah, which is great for the club in terms of securing future talent. But it does raise questions about big-name players who haven't yet finalised new contracts.
Fans will now be looking to see how things pan out with the club's most established players and whether their negotiations will be more challenging. The answer is yes. Different players face different challenges when it comes to contract extensions, which will create a huge workload for Liverpool's negotiating team.
Salah, arguably the club's most influential player in recent years, has been the subject of speculation regarding a possible move to Saudi Arabia. Although his current contract runs until 2025, the continued interest from the Saudi club and the huge financial incentives on offer have created uncertainty.
Liverpool have so far turned down the offers, but with Salah's ridiculous salary, an extension may take longer than expected. It's impossible to overstate how important he is to Liverpool. He's been the focal point of the team's attack since he joined. If the club can't get a deal done, they'll lose a generational talent who'll be crucial to domestic and European success.
Alexander-Arnold's current contract also expires in 2025. There haven't been any major changes, but his situation is equally worrying.
He's got strong ties to Liverpool, having come through the academy and become a symbol of the club's resurgence under Jürgen Klopp. However, reports of his links with Real Madrid, especially his close friendship with Jude Bellingham and the Spanish giants' desire for a new right-back, could make things more complicated.
Carvajal had a serious injury at the end of his career, which meant that the Spanish club had to start looking for a new right-back early on. From what we can see of Real Madrid's current squad, right-back is a real gap in the team. The only right-back they've got is the 33-year-old Vazquez.
There's still huge potential in Alexander-Arnold. The 26-year-old is a dynamic right-back with unmatched offensive organisation skills, and he's an absolute must on the pitch. Given that Real Madrid are showing a lot of interest in him and that he has his own career ambitions, Liverpool may find themselves in a race against time to convince him to renew his contract – especially when a club like Real Madrid can offer both sporting success and financial incentives.
And finally, we have Liverpool's captain, 32-year-old Van Dijk. The Dutchman is coming to the end of his career, but he's still a huge asset to the team as captain and on the defensive. The Dutchman has already said that he'll be loyal to the club, but Liverpool might have to handle the negotiation process with him carefully, as his leadership and experience will be difficult to replace.
These three players are not just key figures in the Liverpool team – they're the backbone of the team and have been instrumental in the club's recent success. Every renewal brings its own set of challenges. Then there's Salah, who's been offered a lot of money from another club. Alexander-Arnold might be interested in playing abroad, and Van Dijk is getting older but is still an invaluable leader.
Kousa's renewal is a good step forward, but the club needs to focus on securing the future of its most important player.
If the contract issues drag on, there'll be more speculation. Liverpool needs to act fast and make a decision on these key players. Losing any one of them would be more of a problem than moving on a promising young defender.
