Getafe and Leganes, two teams who have lost their aim since the start of the league, could have scored in the derby in the south of Madrid. But neither could get the three points. The draw is more valuable for the Pepinero team, who take advantage of their rival's field and keep the relegation zone at bay in the table, which is precisely marked by the Blue team, who are yet to win this season.
It was Getafe who made the most effort at the start of the match, but it is true that the first real danger came from two attempts by Leganes. A shot by Juan Cruz hit the post, the rebound fell to Oscar Rodríguez, whose shot was eventually cleared on the line by David Soria.
These two chances encouraged the Pepinero team, and Munir was cautioned again shortly afterwards. So he began to create more play and dominate the ball, which was blue until the middle of the first half.
In such a passionate derby, it could not be without controversy, and it was. After 35 minutes, Dénée fell on the sideline of the penalty box while passing for Tapia, who passed to Dénée from behind. Cordero Vega made a gesture that he had touched the ball, which is true, but it is doubtful whether it was enough, given the approach from behind. The fact is that a beautiful corrected pass from Arambarri could have led to a goal moments later, but Dmitrović stretched out wide and hit the crossbar to prevent it.
Despite the efforts of both sides, neither could find the back of the net before half-time, but both managers decided to take advantage of this to change the flow of the second half. Roberto Lopez was introduced for Leganes and had the first chance of the second half, trying to surprise the advancing Soria from distance. However, the ball did not go through between the goalposts.
The lack of play and goal expectation from both teams kept the bench moving. Borja Mayoral and Carles Pérez were replaced by the blue team, and a little later, Haller and Franqueza were replaced by Pepinero. But the opening goal was not scored by either player. Given the lack of aim (and chances) in open play, a dead ball was needed to break the tie.
Roberto Lopez fired a free kick from distance into the center of the area, where Jorge Sáenz cleverly hooked it with his right foot, surprising David Soria. The joy of Lega, and especially the scorer, did not last long, because he himself was the protagonist of the play that ended with a penalty for Getafe.
Diego Rico entered the area and received a blow to the foot from Jorge Sáenz just after he had centered back. With a delicate blow, the ball was already in the direction of Arambarri, but Cordero Vega did not hesitate. Borja Mayoral deceived Dmitrović and brought the score back to even.
Needing a point after not winning a single game, Getafe made a furious push in the closing stages, but could not get the point and the score remained unchanged again.
