Costa Rica head into the 2024-25 Nations League season under new management after Claudio Vinas was appointed caretaker coach in August following the resignation of Gustavo Alfaro.

Vinas, a former assistant to Argentina coach Marcelo Bielsa, takes charge of a side that were knocked out of the Copa America in the group stage last summer, despite holding Brazil to a 0-0 draw and beating Paraguay 3-1 in the final.

Since reaching the quarter-finals of last year's Nations League, Los Ticos have won four consecutive matches against CONCACAF opponents by a combined margin of 12-1.

The Costa Ricans have lost three consecutive Nations League matches, with their last win coming against Martinique in March 2023 (2-1).

Los Ticos have won just one of their four Nations League group matches on home soil, beating Martinique 2-0 at the Estadio de Costa Rica in June 2022.

They have won all three of their previous meetings with Guadeloupe, most recently a 3-1 triumph at the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2021 in the United States.

Guadeloupe will finally be playing in the tournament's League A thanks to a strong campaign in the second tier a year ago, topping a group that included Saint Kitts and Nevis, Sint Maarten and Saint Lucia.

Jocelyn Angloma's men went from strength to strength in their last Nations League campaign, winning their last three matches without conceding a single goal.

Their only three defeats in League B in the last two editions of the tournament have all come away from home, with a 1-0 lead in Saint Lucia being squandered in a 2-1 defeat in last year's competition.

They have not played a competitive match since their last Nations League campaign ended with a 5-0 win over Saint Kitts and Nevis in November last year.

In their three Nations League campaigns, Guadeloupe have never picked up a point when conceding the opening goal and have never scored when doing so.

Guadeloupe have not recorded a positive result against a Central American opponent since beating Guatemala 10-9 on penalties in a 2021 Gold Cup qualifier in July this year.
