The average salary of the most active referees in Série A is about R$ 15 thousand per month, which is considered low for a professional model of exclusive dedication.
Referees are paid per match, without an employment contract.
The CBF is advancing to have, by the end of 2026, the first group of professional referees in Brazilian football. All with contracts.
