Inter Official Announcement:
We bid farewell to Chairman Ernesto Pellegrini. For eleven years, he led Inter Milan with wisdom, honor, and determination, leaving an indelible mark on our club's history. Inter Milan and all Nerazzurri fans extend deepest condolences to his family.
(Supplementary Info)
Pellegrini acquired Inter in 1984, becoming its 17th chairman. Under his leadership, the team secured its 13th Serie A title in the 1988–89 season — etched in history as the "Serie A Record Champions" (58 points from 34 matches under the 2-points-per-win system).
Additionally, Inter won the Italian Supercup in 1989 and the UEFA Cup in 1991 (defeating AS Roma in the final), ending a 26-year European trophy drought. His final trophy was the 1994 UEFA Cup, won against Salzburg in the final.
