In typical circumstances, this is the time of year when many football players would be embarking on well-deserved holidays, while others prepare for the final international matches of the season with their national teams.

However, this year is different, as 32 club teams take center stage in the inaugural expanded FIFA Club World Cup, set to begin in Miami on June 14.

Some of the world's top club football teams, including Real Madrid, PSG, Boca Juniors, Al Hilal, Bayern Munich, and Chelsea, will gather in the United States, with the final scheduled for July 13 in New Jersey.

Real Madrid's Priority

Real Madrid has openly stated their intention to treat this tournament with utmost seriousness.

Following a disappointing season and with new head coach Xabi Alonso leading the team, the desire for a title among 'Los Blancos' has grown stronger.

It is ingrained in Real Madrid fans' DNA to see their team win and continue winning, a sentiment echoed from the club's top management, who have even called the Club World Cup the "most important" tournament of the season.

Beyond the financial rewards, Real Madrid aims to establish prestige as the debut winners of this new competition, much like their victories in the first European Cup in 1956 and the inaugural Intercontinental Cup in 1960.

Cash Bonanza

In addition to the pride of victory, the club has approved special champion bonuses: €1 million gross per player if they win the tournament, equivalent to the bonus for a Champions League win, positioning the Club World Cup on the same level.

Securing the Club World Cup title promises a substantial financial windfall, as FIFA has confirmed this tournament features the largest prize pool in football history, including a group stage and knockout rounds comprising seven matches.

Prizes per Round

The payouts are straightforward and publicly available: each group stage win earns $2 million (shared as $1 million per team in case of a tie). Advancing in the round of 16 brings $7.5 million, quarterfinals yield $13.125 million, semifinals award $21 million, and the final offers $40 million.

Winning all three group stage matches and ultimately lifting the trophy could result in a total payout of approximately €140 million.
