Inter Milan is anxiously awaiting the fitness status of two key Champions League players, as captain Lautaro Martinez and semi-final hero Davide Frattesi are in a tight race to be fit for Friday's vital match.
Both players are still expected to at least make the bench, while French defender Benjamin Pavard has recently returned to training and should be available for selection.
If Martinez is cleared to start at the Sinigaglia Stadium, Mehdi Taremi would move to the bench, allowing 'El Toro' and Marcus Thuram to reunite as the forward partnership.
Otherwise, coach Simone Inzaghi is likely to field the same lineup, including the in-form Denzel Dumfries, who remains a major threat during set pieces; the Dutch winger has scored 11 goals and provided five assists across all competitions this season, highlighted by his recent header.
With their leading scorer Assane Diao sidelined due to injury—he has scored eight Serie A goals since joining in January—Como will rely on emerging talent Nico Paz, who has contributed six goals and eight assists, for their attacking spark.
Alberto Dossena and Sergi Roberto are also out, and Edoardo Goldaniga is suspended; in his place, Ivan Smolcic may step into Como's defensive line.
Additionally, backup goalkeeper Pepe Reina, aged 42, will retire from professional football after announcing his decision.
Como possible starting lineup:
Butez; Vojvoda, Smolcic, Kempf, Valle; Da Cunha, Perrone; Paz, Caqueret, Strefezza; Douvikas
Inter Milan possible starting lineup:
Sommer; Bisseck, Acerbi, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Thuram, Taremi
