Inter Milan's hopes of winning the title were dealt a crushing blow on Sunday when a late penalty from Pedro earned Lazio a 2-2 draw at the San Siro, leaving the Serie A champions one point behind Napoli going into the final game of the season.

While leaders Napoli were held to a 0–0 draw by Parma, Inter missed a golden opportunity to take the lead at the perfect time. However, Yann Bisseck went from hero to villain by conceding a penalty in the 90^(th) minute after scoring the opening goal.

Inter have 78 points and play Como away on the final day, while Napoli have 79 and play Cagliari at home. Should the sides finish level on points, the title will be decided by a play-off. Lazio are sixth with 65 points, two behind fourth-placed Juventus.

The first half was played at a pace that made the game look like an end-of-season match with nothing at stake, rather than two sides with a lot still to play for.

Federico Dimarco's first-time effort from the edge of the area, parried away by Lazio keeper Christos Mandas after half an hour, was the first shot on target. Inter keeper Yann Sommer was then called into action shortly before half-time.

Gustav Isaksen was sent through one-on-one, but Sommer spread himself well to deny the Lazio striker. It was Inter who took the lead on the stroke of half-time.

Dimarco had another effort blocked from a corner, and when the ball fell to Bisseck, he had time to control it before smashing his shot into the roof of the net.

After the interval, Lazio pushed forward and had an excellent chance to equalise, but Boulaye Dia sent the ball just wide from close range under pressure from Sommer and Bisseck.

Minutes later, Lazio equalised when substitute Pedro fired home from the edge of the six-yard box from a Matías Vecino lay-off.

Inter recovered, and with 11 minutes remaining, Hakan Çalhanoğlu floated a free kick to the back post, where Denzel Dumfries lost his marker and headed in from close range.

This looked like the goal that would decide the Scudetto, but when Bisseck handled the ball late on, a VAR check resulted in a penalty being awarded, which Pedro scored.

Inter's never-say-die attitude looked set to save them once more, but Marko Arnautović scuffed a close-range shot in added time.

He then had the ball in the net, and it looked like Inter had earned a dramatic win, but the goal was ruled out for offside. The defending champions and Champions League finalists must now hope for another Napoli slip-up.
