Las Palmas vs Leganes

Match preview

Las Palmas have had a tough season, picking up only 32 points from 36 league matches, which leaves them in 19th place, six points behind 17th-placed Alavés, who have a superior head-to-head record.

As a result, Las Palmas will play in the Segunda División next season, but they will be looking to finish the season on a high, especially after suffering four consecutive defeats at the hands of Athletic Bilbao, Valencia, Rayo Vallecano and Sevilla.

Las Palmas have a strong attacking line-up, with Sandro Ramírez and Fabio Silva scoring 19 goals between them in Spain's top flight this season. However, they have struggled defensively, conceding 58 goals in 36 matches.

Head coach Diego Martínez will be hoping to keep the bulk of this squad together, as they will be favourites to secure an immediate return to the top flight next season. However, defensive changes are needed.

Las Palmas have lost three of their last four La Liga matches against Leganés, including a 2–1 defeat earlier this season.

Leganés can still avoid relegation in the final stages of the season, but they will need to make a huge effort to escape the bottom three.

A record of seven wins, 13 draws and 16 defeats from 36 matches has left them in 18th place with 34 points, four behind 17th-placed Alavés with two games left.

Leganés need to beat Las Palmas if they are to stand any chance of remaining in the division. However, they will enter this match on the back of a disappointing result after suffering a 3-0 defeat to Villarreal on 14 May.

Borja Jiménez's side have won only one of their last 10 league fixtures, and the reigning Segunda División champions are facing relegation to the second tier for the 2025–26 campaign.

Leganés have struggled away from home during the 2024–25 campaign, picking up only 12 points from 18 matches and recording just one win. However, Las Palmas have collected only 17 points from 18 home games.

Team News

Las Palmas will be without Mika Mármol, who is suspended, while Kirian Rodríguez will miss the final two matches of the season as he continues to recover from cancer.

Fabio Silva is expected to return to the squad after recently overcoming an issue, although he may start on the bench. Head coach Martínez is set to make changes to the side that lost to Sevilla.

Dario Essugo and Marc Cardona could both be included in the starting XI, and Marvin Park is likely to get a spot at the back, potentially at the expense of Viti Rozada.

As for Leganés, Enric Franquesa remains on the sidelines with a long-term knee injury, but the visitors are otherwise in strong shape.

Head coach Jiménez is expected to resist the temptation to shuffle his pack following the heavy defeat to Villarreal last time out. A 3-4-3 formation is expected, with Dani Raba and Diego García set to feature in the final third.

Darko Brasanac and Miguel de la Fuente could be options for changes, but it is likely that the pair will remain on the bench.
