Arsenal's plans to expand the Emirates Stadium represent a strategic acknowledgment by Stan Kroenke of the growing competition from emerging Premier League clubs.
The Gunners have received design concepts for the Emirates Stadium 2.0, aiming to accommodate 80,000 fans. This project will involve an exceptionally complex construction process, as Josh Kroenke has openly stated.
Arsenal’s potential matchday income at an expanded Emirates Stadium
Last season, only Manchester United generated more revenue through ticket sales than Arsenal.
On a per-seat basis, the Gunners led the league. For an 80,000-seat stadium, projections indicate that matchday income could reach an impressive £175m.
However, this estimate does not account for enhanced hospitality options, which would be significantly more profitable. Additional improvements to the general matchday experience would further boost earnings, along with substantial commercial advantages.
Arsenal's stadium naming rights and front-of-shirt sponsorship agreement with Emirates is scheduled to end in 2028. Currently, the naming rights portion is valued at approximately £5m per year.
