Rangers have hit out at their own supporters for an 'unacceptable' tifo that was unveiled prior to their match against Celtic this afternoon.

Cyriel Dessers opened the scoring late in the first half before Adam Idah levelled things up in the second 45.

Despite both sides having chances in the closing stages, neither found the back of the net as the spoils were shared.

Pre-match, supporters in the Copland Stand helped create the massive display, which depicted Graeme Souness looking down the barrel of a shotgun.

The tifo utilised photo-op snaps of the former Rangers captain and manager from back in 1982 at the World Cup.

Souness had posed with a shotgun in Malaga, Spain as he previewed Scotland's group stage match against New Zealand.

The display then featured the words: "Take aim at the rebel scum".

Rangers have hit out at their fans for the tifo: "We also acknowledge that the tifo displayed prior to kick-off crossed a line and was unacceptable," a club spokesperson said.

"Our approach to supporter displays has always been built on trust, with the responsibility placed on groups to exercise good judgement.

"We will reflect on how these displays are managed and engage with supporter groups to ensure the right balance of trust, responsibility and oversight is maintained moving forward.

"Rangers is proud of its passionate fanbase, and we all share a duty to protect the standards and reputation of our club."
