Reiss Nelson appears to be edging closer to a comeback from injury after sharing a picture of himself back in boots during training, but a return to action this season remains unlikely.

Arsenal loanee Reiss Nelson took to social media this week to share a picture of himself back in boots, captioning it with a clock, perhaps hinting that it's almost time for him to make his comeback.

Nelson has been out of action for Fulham since December after his initial attempt to return from a hamstring injury ended in a setback and surgery in mid-February.

The winger has since returned to Arsenal to work on his recovery at London Colney.

Arsenal fans will know from recent experience that it takes time to recover from hamstring surgery. Bukayo Saka went under the knife at the end of December and only made his comeback at the end of March.

If Nelson is sidelined for a similar length of time, the earliest he could play football would be May 16, just nine days before the end of Fulham's season.

Marco Silva previously suggested that Nelson could be out for the season and despite his recent progress, it doesn't look like that has changed.

Nelson had made 12 appearances for Fulham before his first injury, scoring two goals and assisting another. He'd just been given a run in the team when he was injured and had started five Premier League games in a row.

Fabrizio Romano has suggested that the winger is likely to leave Arsenal again this summer once his loan spell at Fulham is over and he's fully fit.
