Djurgården has already made history in this season's Conference League, reaching a European semi-final for the first time in their history.

They earned 13 points from six matches to finish fifth in the group stage, then advanced with a 3-1 aggregate win over Pafos in the last 16.

In their first European quarter-final in 69 years, Djurgården defeated Rapid Vienna 2-1 in the away leg to level the tie after a 1-0 loss at home.

Tobias Gulliksen scored a brace in stoppage time, sending his team to the semi-finals and keeping alive hopes of becoming the first Swedish club to win a European trophy since Göteborg's UEFA Cup triumph in 1987.

Under Jani Honkavaara, the side followed their Australian tour with a goalless league draw against GAIS, then secured a 1-0 win over Öster on April 24.

Djurgården knows they are underdogs against Chelsea in this semi-final, but with six wins in eight European home games this season (two losses), they may surprise in Thursday's first leg.

Chelsea is in their first European semi-final since winning the Champions League under Thomas Tuchel in 2020-21.

After losing two UEFA quarter-finals since then, they progressed past Legia Warsaw with a 3-0 away win, despite a 2-1 home loss, reaching their 15th UEFA semi-final.

The Conference League is Chelsea's only chance for a trophy this season, while they battle for a top-five Premier League finish to qualify for next season's Champions League, sitting level on points in fifth after two straight wins.

Tyrone George and Pedro Neto scored late to beat Fulham 2-1, and Nicolas Jackson's goal clinched a 1-0 win over Everton, extending their unbeaten Premier League run to five games (three wins, two draws).

Chelsea will face Liverpool on Sunday for a top-five spot, but first, they aim to succeed in Thursday's first leg in Sweden, where they've remained unbeaten in their last four European visits (two wins, two draws).

They can draw confidence from winning their previous five away Conference League games, scoring 14 goals and conceding only three times.

Possible starting lineup for Djurgårdens IF:

Rinne; Stahl, Une Larsson, Danielson, Kosugi; Stensson, Findell; Harala, Gulliksen, Nguen; Priske

Possible starting lineup for Chelsea:
