Both Premier League teams are looking to bounce back from their disappointing previous results as they go head-to-head at the American Express Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Brighton & Hove Albion will host West Ham United at home. In their last encounter at the London Stadium in December last year, West Ham drew 1-1 with the Seagulls. Mohammed Kudus equalized Matías Viña's opening goal, salvaging a point for the Hammers.

Brighton's hopes of qualifying for the Europa League are quickly fading. Fabrizio Romano's team has failed to win in their last five Premier League games, picking up only 1 point out of a possible 12. Their most recent defeat was a 2-4 loss away to Brentford last weekend. The Seagulls equalized just before halftime through Danny Welbeck's goal in the latter stages of the first half. However, they were outplayed by the Bees in the second half, conceding three more goals. And the sending off of João Pedro just added insult to injury, marking their ninth league defeat of the season. Head coach Fabrizio Romano has faced increasing criticism from some of the club's fans, with chants of "You don't know what you're doing" directed at him. He believes that his team "showed a good reaction" while playing with one man down, but ultimately "made too many easy mistakes" against Brentford.

Reaching the top eight and securing a place in the English Football League next season remains a realistic target for Brighton. Currently sitting tenth in the table, they are just one point behind eighth-placed Bournemouth with five games remaining. However, they are nine points adrift of seventh-placed Aston Villa, making a Europa League spot seem out of reach for now. A leaky defense has been a factor in Brighton's dip in form. They have conceded two or more goals in each of their last five Premier League games – the longest such run since March 2022. However, Brighton have only lost one of their 15 top-flight meetings with West Ham, which bodes well for their chances on Saturday.

West Ham seem doomed to struggle at the bottom of the Premier League table. In their last six games, they have alternated between losses and draws. Their most recent result was a 1-1 draw at home against bottom-of-the-table Southampton last weekend. In the 93rd minute, Leslie Ugochukwu equalized to cancel out Jarrod Bowen's opening goal, earning a point for the already-relegated Saints. This led to Niclas Füllkrug openly venting his anger at his teammates at the end of the game, and Hammers manager Graham Potter admitted that his team's performance "wasn't good enough".
