Aston Villa youngster Lamare Bogarde has signed a new long-term contract with the club after impressing Unai Emery behind the scenes.
The young Villan was attracting a lot of interest from some of Europe's top clubs but has put questions over his future to bed by penning an extension with the Midlands club to remain with Emery's side.
In a club announcement, Villa said: "Aston Villa is delighted to announce that Lamare Bogarde has signed a new contract with the club. The Dutch Under-21 international has been a regular in matchday squads for Villa this term, making 16 appearances in all competitions, including four in the Champions League.
"A versatile player, capable of playing in defence and in midfield, Bogarde joined the club in the summer of 2020 from Feyenoord and has previously spent time on loan with Bristol Rovers. Congratulations, Lamare!"
Bogarde has made 18 appearances across all competitions this season, mostly as a late substitute. After committing his future to Emery and Co, he will be hoping to see more minutes between now and the end of the season, particularly due to his versatile nature of being able to play at centre-back or full-back.
There is still plenty to play for in Villa's season, including the Champions League and race for European places in the top flight. While Emery has his trusted men, Bogarde will be ready with renewed energy after signing his contract to contribute in any way that he can.
