Dortmund confirmed that their German defender Schlotterbeck was injured and has ended his season.

Schlotterbeck has played in 23 league games this season and recorded four assists, but he missed the most recent match against Freiburg. There were concerns about his condition, but the club announced that he will not be able to play this season due to a torn meniscus in his left knee.

Dortmund's sports director Sebastian Kehl said, "The loss of Nico is a big blow for us. He is very important to the team and has always performed well this season. We hope that he will be able to fit in quickly and receive the maximum support for his return."

Dortmund will have a Champions League match against Barcelona in the middle of the week. Schlotterbeck's absence will be a big blow.
