An emphatic finish from Alessandro Zanoli was enough for Genoa to secure all three points with a 1-0 victory at home against Udinese in Serie A’s Friday night kick-off slot to kick-off an action-packed 31st round of 2024-25 fixtures.

Patrick Vieira and Kosta Runjaic both made a handful of changes to their sides following their respective losses against Juventus and Inter last weekend.

Morten Thorsby and Pinamonti threatened the visitors' goal but failed to convert it. Okoye's outstanding performance kept the goal intact.

Udinese also had some counterattacks. Luca's goal was ruled out for a foul, and Modesto, who came on as a substitute in the second half, also had a header saved.

In the final moments of the game, both sides still had chances to change the score. Okoye blocked Thorsby's close-range shot, Pinamonti's one-on-one shot was called offside, and Modesto almost equalized the score, but after a long VAR judgment, it was finally determined that the goal was invalid. Vieira's team maintained the score of 1-0 until the end of the game.
