Latest from Sky Sports News:
Veteran striker Martyn Waghorn has come out of retirement in an attempt to help Derby County survive relegation from the Championship.
The 35-year-old scored seven times in in 25 league games for Derby last season, as the team won promotion from League One, but he hasn’t played at all in the Championship and joined Northampton Town in November, where he played eight games for them before Christmas.
He announced he was hanging up his boots last month after amassing 527 professional matches across a 17-year career. He scored a total of 135 goals for 12 different clubs, including Leicester, Rangers, Ipswich and Derby.
But Waghorn is now training with Derby again - and manager John Eustace thinks his experience, motivational skills and knowledge of fighting numerous relegation battles could be valuable in helping the squad escape slipping straight back into League One.
At the moment, there are no plans to register Waghorn as a player for Derby’s final eight games of the season.
