Andrey Santos, Dilane Bakwa, Emanuel Emegha and Samuel Amo-Ameyah were all on the scoresheet as Strasbourg tore Lyon apart in a six-goal second-half thriller. Corentin Tolisso and Georges Mikautadze came close but to no avail.

Two of Ligue 1's most in-form sides kicked off the 27th round when Paulo Fonseca's Lyon visited Liam Rosenior's Strasbourg. The Alsatians had the opportunity to leapfrog OL into fifth place. Lyon made their intentions clear from the outset, with Jordan Veretout's first-minute cross-shot tipped over by Đorđe Petrović at his near post.

The Chelsea loanee was to frustrate the France international again as Lyon piled on the pressure. Georges Mikautadze, who had to lead the line with Alexandre Lacazette on the bench, volleyed over the crossbar. Liam Rosenior's side had climbed to the top of Ligue 1 with their energetic style, but they seemed to be outclassed by their opponents, with Corentin Tolisso and Tanner Tessmann particularly adept at setting up the press.

Lyon thought they had finally broken the deadlock when Ernest Nuamah's deflected cross found its way in, but the Ghana international was flagged for offside. As for Strasbourg, they didn't even register a shot on target in the first half. A goalless first half was soon forgotten as Strasbourg and Lyon went on a three-goal spree in the space of seven minutes.

Strasbourg captain Andrey Santos drew first blood when the unmarked Chelsea loanee headed home Dilane Bakwa's corner. The former Bordeaux winger also took advantage of Lyon's passivity, dancing from the byline to the edge of the penalty area, where he doubled his side's lead with a neat left-footed finish.

Corentin Tolisso halved the deficit from close range, but Strasbourg were a different team after Liam Rosenior's half-time pep talk. The Alsatians were now winning challenges and fouls all over the pitch, exposing Lyon's weaknesses. The impeccable Valentin Barco slipped a centimetre-perfect through ball into the path of Emanuel Emegha to restore his side's two-goal cushion, the Dutch centre-forward beating both Clinton Mata and Moussa Niakhaté.

Georges Mikautadze's late penalty did little to spoil the party as Strasbourg leapfrogged Les Gones into 5th place. Strasbourg are one point behind Monaco and Nice ahead of Sunday's Riviera derby.
