The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) announced that Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsí would be leaving the Spanish national team.

The player started the first leg of the UEFA Nations League (UNL) quarter-final against the Netherlands (2-2) on the 20th, but was substituted in the 41st minute of the first half due to injury. The RFEF said: "Following an examination by the medical team, it has been decided that Pau Cubarsí will return to his club Barcelona to concentrate on recovering from the discomfort in his right ankle.

The return leg will be played at home on the 23rd. The RFEF announced the inclusion of Lazio defender Mario Gila in the squad the day before.
