It has been a major disappointment for Manchester City to have lost Oscar Bobb for the past seven months due to injury. The Norwegian international appeared set for a breakout season before he sustained a fractured leg following Manchester City’s FA Community Shield victory over Manchester United.
From that point onwards anticipation has built for Bobb’s return to the pitch. Now it appears that the young winger has made significant progress in his return from injury. Pep Guardiola has provided a positive update on Bobb’s recovery from injury.
Pep Guardiola revealed that Oscar Bobb played in a friendly with Manchester City’s EDS side this week. He explained that the Norwegian international is continuing to work his way back to full fitness. Guardiola explained:
“He’s training now regularly and feels really better. He played a friendly game yesterday with the second team because he has to be on the pitch. It’s difficult for me because all the people up front are available. We want to bring him some minutes and that’s why it’s going to happen. It’s difficult to dictate how he feels just in training. It’s good to see for himself in his mind he’s fine and perfect and that he can do what he wants to do. Then he will have the same chances with the other ones to be in the team.”
The fact he has played indicates that his return to the Manchester City squad is imminent. Perhaps it will come after the upcoming international break. Following today’s match Manchester City aren’t in action for two weeks until their FA Cup quarter-final clash against Bournemouth. That game may be when we finally see Oscar Bobb return to the Manchester City matchday squad.
