Inter Milan officially announced that their Polish midfielder Zielinski had injured the gastrocnemius muscle on the inside of his right leg. He will miss tonight's Champions League second leg against Feyenoord.
The 30-year-old Zielinski came on as a substitute in the 70th minute of Inter Milan's home game against Monza last weekend, but just three minutes later he fell to the ground in pain, holding his right calf without any confrontation, and left the field early.
The official statement is as follows.
Piotr Zieliński underwent clinical and instrumental tests today at the Humanitas Institute in Rozzano, after the injury on Saturday evening during the match against Monza.
The test revealed a distraction of the medial gemellus of the right leg.
The Polish midfielder will be reassessed in the coming weeks.
