Napoli earned a deserved 2-1 win over Fiorentina at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Sunday to give pressure on to the shoulders of Serie A leaders Inter Milan.

Napoli moved to 60 points, one behind Inter, who completed a comeback to beat Monza 3-2 on Saturday. Fiorentina remain seventh on 45 points.

The Napoli fans' pre-match choreography behind both goals featured the words "Anema e Core", calling for "Heart and Soul" from their side, and the players responded with a dominant first-half display.

It was all Napoli in the early stages, with the hosts peppering the Fiorentina area with crosses and a constant stream of passes aimed at Romelu Lukaku.

Fiorentina goalkeeper David de Gea did well to keep out Giacomo Raspadori's close-range shot and the ball finally found Lukaku on 26 minutes.

De Gea did well to keep out a long-range shot from former Manchester United teammate Scott McTominay and Lukaku was in the right place to convert from just outside the six-yard box.

The Fiorentina keeper did better to keep out another Raspadori effort with his leg, and in a rare foray forward, the visitors won a corner which Moise Kean headed over.

It was back to business as usual as Napoli continued to press, and Giovanni Di Lorenzo's shot hit the crossbar after De Gea had been beaten, with the keeper getting a foot to save from Leonardo Spinazzola.

It was a slower start to the second half until Raspadori again forced De Gea into action with a shot on goal, and on the hour mark the Napoli striker was rewarded.

Lukaku bided his time before slipping a perfect through ball to Raspadori, who controlled the ball on the turn before unleashing a low shot into the far corner.

Fiorentina got back into the game six minutes later when Moise Kean's back-heel pass found Albert Gudmundsson, who curled a shot into the bottom corner.

Napoli should have wrapped things up in stoppage time when Giovanni Simeone had a shot saved by De Gea, but Antonio Conte's side ended a five-match winless run.
