PSV has not had a good record in recent weeks. They have been gradually falling behind Ajax in the Eredivisie and have lost to the same opponent Go Forward Eagles in the Dutch Cup and the league.
Before the game against Arsenal, Ivan Perišić attended the press conference with head coach Peter Bosz. Their Round of 16 first leg in Champions League will start at 8pm UK on Mar 4.
Facing Arsenal, the second-ranked team in the Premier League, Perišić, who previously played for Tottenham in the Premier League, said that the team needs to focus on the current game and play at their best.
Here are some questions and answers in the conference.
How do you see the phase you are in?
“You have to be focused on what is coming. Tomorrow is another big game, with a strong opponent, so we need to be at the highest level tactically to show that we are here to win.”
How do you see the tactical plan and the playing style?
“I have always liked attacking football, I played that especially during my time in Germany. We need to play even more compactly now. We score and create chances every game, but that is not enough. I work hard every day and I believe that I can help the team again, just like I did at Juventus. Football is my life, it is what drives me, every day. In difficult times, real men have to stand up."
What kind of game can we expect tomorrow?
“It will be a tough game against a young team with a strong coach. Arsenal often lacked that one touch to win something last year. We have to be fully prepared, then we have a good chance to beat them. I believe in our team and we have to play at our best. When you hear the Champions League anthem, it gives something special.”
