Girona vs Getafe
Match preview
Girona have won nine, drawn four and lost 10 of their 23 league games this term, picking up 31 points to sit eighth in La Liga, four points behind sixth-placed Rayo Vallrcano.
The Catalans enjoyed a historic campaign in 2023-24, finishing third in the league, but this season has been more difficult for them, as they are 17 points behind third-placed Barcelona at this stage of the campaign.
A top-six finish would still be an excellent season for Michel's men, but they have lost three of their last four league games, including a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Athletic Bilbao last time out, their sixth away defeat of the campaign.
Girona have won two of their last three league games against Getafe, including a 1-0 victory earlier this season.
They also won 3-0 in the corresponding fixture in the 2023-24 campaign and will be looking for a third successive home win over the Deep Blue on Friday night.
Getafe go into the game in good form, having won three and drawn two of their last five league games to move up to 14th in the standings, five points clear of the relegation zone.
They are now just four points behind seventh-placed Real Sociedad, with a top-half finish well within their grasp if they can maintain their recent form over the final few months of the season.
Jose Bordalas' side won 1-0 at Alaces last time out, with Mauro Arambarri scoring the only goal of the game from the penalty spot late in the first period.
Getafe have been superb defensively this season, conceding just 17 goals in 23 games, the second-best record in La Liga behind Atletico Madrid, who have conceded just 15.
The Deep Blue have struggled at the other end, scoring just 18 times, the second-worst attacking record, but they have scored six times in their last three away games, all of which were victories over Las Palmas, Real Sociedad and Alaves.
