Barcelona received a positive update on Ronald Araujo's fitness after their 4-1 win at Sevilla.
La Blaugrana seized the opportunity in Andalusia after a 1-1 draw in the Madrid derby at the weekend to close the gap on La Liga leaders.
The trip to the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan was far from perfect for Flick, however, as Fermin Lopez was sent off and Ronald Araujo suffered an early injury.
Concerns about Araujo were immediately addressed at full-time by Flick, who confirmed that the Uruguayan would undergo tests in the coming days to assess the extent of the injury.
His withdrawal after 22 minutes left Barcelona fans fearing the worst, but Flick remains optimistic.
“We expect test results tomorrow and we hope it’s not too serious. That’s what it looks like right now,” as per reports from Marca.
The early indications are that he will miss at least a short spell on the sidelines and is likely to be ruled out of the upcoming home game against in-form Rayo Vallecano on 17 February.
Eric Garcia came on in place of Araujo and scored a late fourth goal for Barcelona, and he is likely to deputise for the 25-year-old if he is unavailable.
