Manchester City's Spanish midfielder Nicolas González was injured on his debut.
Nico joined City from Porto in the winter transfer window for a fee of 60 million euros (approximately 9.6 billion yen). He made his starting debut in the FA Cup fourth round match against Leyton Orient on the 8th, but in the 16th minute he lost the ball which led to a goal and fell, and was crushed by an opponent player who had also fallen down.
Nico continued to play for a while after that, but was substituted in the 22nd minute with an apparent injury to his left hip.
Manager Josep Guardiola said of Nico: "I think he quickly understood what it was like to referee in England. It must have been more difficult because we didn't have VAR. I don't know how much pain he was in, but it's disappointing that he couldn't continue playing."
Four days later, City will face Real Madrid in the first leg of the play-offs with the aim of advancing to the Round of 16 of the Champions League, but Nico, who was brought in to fill the void left by midfielder Rodri, may not be available.
