Two goals from Harry Kane helped Bayern Munich to a 3-0 win over Werder Bremen on Friday, their seventh successive league victory and a nine-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga.

It was Kane who had the best chance of the first half, but his stoppage-time header went just wide.

The league's top scorer came close again 25 seconds after the restart, hitting the crossbar with a powerful shot, but he was lucky for the third time in the 56th minute when he converted a penalty.

Dayot Upamecano thought he had scored a second minutes later, but Werder goalkeeper Michael Zetterer did well to keep his shot out.

Leroy Sané did better in the 83rd minute, tucking home Konrad Laimer's cut-back, before Zetterer denied Kane and Laimer in the closing stages to keep the scores level.

However, he was beaten for the second time from the spot when Kane converted his 21st league goal from the spot in stoppage time.

"It's a big month for us. We're aware of that," Kane said. "It was important to keep the focus and win today to go nine points at the top. We have two big away games next week. We have to push ourselves and see how far we can go."

The Bavarians are on 54 points in the Bundesliga, nine ahead of second-placed Leverkusen, they will face champions Bayer Leverkusen in the league next week following their Champions League game in Glasgow.
